Eau Claire Student Council Named National Council of Excellence

Eau Claire High School’s student council has been named a 2026 National Council of Excellence by the National Association of Student Councils. The award recognizes student councils that “maintain strong year-round programs and work to improve their schools and communities through their leadership activities.”

Eau Claire is the first Richland One school whose student council was named a National Council of Excellence and was one of 19 schools in South Carolina selected for this distinction.

“When I was reading about National Student Council and some of the things other student councils do, I told the students that we do some of the same things and we should be a part of something that’s greater than being local,” said Dominique Prioleau, Eau Claire’s student council advisor. “The students have worked really hard and have a lot of pride in their work.”

Senior Logan Davis serves as Eau Claire’s student council president. She says that, in her roles, she ensures that her classmates’ concerns are listened to and has played an instrumental part in organizing school and community events, including Eau Claire’s first student council induction ceremony in over 20 years.

“We’re all ecstatic about receiving this award. It’s good that we’re setting a standard for future students who will join student council. We do a lot for our school and for our community, and I want more students to be encouraged to join,” Logan said.
