Dreher Robotics Team Earns FIRST Impact Award

Dreher High School’s Blue Devil Mechanics robotics team earned the FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) Impact Award during the FIRST Robotics Richland District competition March 12-14 at Lower Richland High School.

The award is the most prestigious FIRST award a robotics team can earn during a competition. It honors the team that best serves as a role model for other teams and best embodies FIRST’s mission. The award also automatically qualifies Dreher’s robotics team for the FIRST state championship.

Elizabeth Moon, the robotics team’s advisor, said that the team has been working on getting this award since 2019.

“Everything fell into place with all of the work needed from the whole team, from STEM Days to starting new FIRST teams in our district. And now, we have finally brought home this incredibly desired award,” said Moon.

The FIRST state championship will take place April 9-11 in Anderson.
