Richland One Seeking Feedback On Exploring Year-Round Calendar

The Richland One Calendar Committee is seeking feedback from all stakeholders as the district considers calendar options for the 2026-2027 school year.

Some school districts have begun to explore year-round calendars to prevent student/teacher burnout, offer additional opportunities for academic remediation and provide additional opportunities for students.

In a traditional modified calendar and a year-round calendar, students attend school 180 days a year and teachers work 190 days a year, thus meeting the requirements of state statutes and law.

In most year-round calendars, there is a two-week fall intersessions (a break) and a two-week spring intercession for students and staff. Students who need extra support may come to school during the intercessions. Enrichment opportunities also can be provided.

Richland One students, staff and community members are asked to review the draft year-round calendar as an example of what a year-round calendar could look like, then take the survey. The two intercessions are marked in red on the draft calendar.

Click HERE to review the draft calendar and take the survey by the February 21 deadline.

Feedback provided through the survey will help the Calendar Committee gauge whether there is interest in further exploring the year-round calendar structure.
