Language Immersion
Richland One offers a 50/50 language immersion model in Chinese and Spanish offered at three schools across the district. The 50/50 language immersion model is an educational approach where students spend half of their school day learning in a target language (e.g., Spanish, French, Mandarin) and the other half in their native language. Academic subjects, such as math, science, and social studies, are divided between the two languages, ensuring balanced exposure. This model promotes bilingualism, biliteracy, and cross-cultural understanding while maintaining strong proficiency in both languages. By integrating content and language instruction, students develop fluency and cognitive skills that enhance their overall academic achievement and global competence.
