About Second Language Education in Richland One
Richland One has a comprehensive second language education program with a variety of programs being offered PreK-12. Currently, there are five languages being taught in the district: Chinese, French, German, Latin, and Spanish.
Spanish is offered PreK-12 in every school in the district. For elementary, there is a FLEX (related arts) option and at the secondary level you can take it for high school credit starting in seventh grade.
French is offered at nine schools at the middle and high level. Students can start earning French high school credit starting in the seventh grade.
German, Latin, and Chinese are offered at one high school in the district, Dreher. Levels 1-5 are available.
Our language immersion program offers Chinese and Spanish in a 50/50 model at Carver-Lyon Elementary and Hand Middle School.
