Social Work Corner
WELCOME TO THE SOCIAL WORK CORNER
Hello, my name is Sherrell Brown and I am the School Social Worker for the R.E.S.E.T program. School Social Workers are licensed professionals embedded in our schools to help children and families when they encounter barriers that impact a child’s academic and social development.
So how can I assist you? I am here to advocate and help students achieve academic and social emotional success by linking the home, school, and community. Social Work support services include resource coordination, crisis support, and mental health counseling are just a few to name. Furthermore, School Social Workers address issues of non-attendance and truancy which is a behavior issue.
Individualized services include individual & group counseling. Sessions with the School Social Worker can enhance self-esteem, interpersonal skills, and give students the opportunity to learn and practice positive behaviors. Further more, working with the School Social Worker helps students learn more about their feelings, making good and safe decisions, and establishing positive relationships with others.
I am also available to consult and talk with school staff and parents about best practices, and to provide resources and/or referrals if needed. Please contact me if you feel I may be able to asssit you.
