Master Class
The Master Class is a collaboration between Richland One and the Auntie Karen Foundation to host a Master Class for a Legendary National Recording Artist. Each year the foundation sponsors the Legends Concert Series. The Auntie Karen Foundation created the Legends of...Concert Series to pay tribute to the contributions African American music has made to history. Each year during Black History Month, the series profiles a jazz, rhythm and blues, gospel or blues artist who has made a lasting contribution to the history of music. The concert is held at the Koger Center, and each year the recording artist conducts a Master Class for students in the community.
Since 2013 Richland One has hosted the Master Class providing the opportunity for over five hundred visual and performing arts students to learn from a legendary artist. Our previous presenters have included Gladys Knight (2013), Jonathan Butler (2014), Chaka Khan (2015), Al Jarreau (2016), Shelia E. (2018), The Isley Brothers (2019).
