The MTSS Team

Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) is a FRAMEWORK that involves Quality Core Instruction, assessment, progress monitoring, and intervention(s)/support(s) to ensure that ALL students receive the level of support they need to be successful. It is a school-wide data driven framework for improving learning and behavioral outcomes for all students.

  • Tier I (100% of students)- Provide Quality Core Instruction and School-Wide Positive Behavioral Programs that meets the academic and behavioral needs of all students. There should be researched based programs implemented at the core of instruction by the teacher

  • Tier II (15%-20% of students/Supplemental Supports)- Provides focused supports and targeted interventions for the students who continue to need support beyond Quality Core Instruction and/or the school-wide behavior plan. Monitor students’ progress towards a specific goal.

Tier III (5% or less of students/Individualized Supports)- provides interventions that are more focused, intensive, and longer in duration in addition to the support received in Tiers I and II. Academic and behavioral supports adjust to the student’s response to Quality Core Instruction and previous interventions. Progress monitoring is more intensive for those students with greater academic and behavioral needs as for those considered for a different placement.
