Welcome to the EXCEL Flexible Learning Academy

At EXCEL, we believe every student deserves an opportunity to succeed, regardless of the challenges they may have faced along their educational journey. Our mission is simple: remove barriers, create opportunities, and ensure every student has a pathway to graduation and future success.

As an educator for nearly two decades, I have learned that success is not determined by where a student starts, but by the support, opportunities, and relationships that are provided along the way. Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of working with students from all backgrounds and experiences. One lesson remains constant—when students know that adults genuinely care about them and believe in their potential, extraordinary things can happen.

As a first-generation college graduate, former student-athlete, author, father, and educator, I understand firsthand how opportunity, perseverance, and a strong support system can change the trajectory of a life. Those experiences continue to shape my commitment to ensuring every student has access to the resources, relationships, and opportunities needed to achieve success.

At EXCEL, we are committed to being more than just a school. We are a family, a support system, and a bridge to future possibilities. Whether a student is seeking credit recovery, acceleration opportunities, flexible learning options, grade-level advancement, or an alternative pathway to graduation, our staff is dedicated to meeting students where they are and helping them get where they want to be.

Our work is driven by relationships but guided by data. We believe in making informed decisions that lead to meaningful outcomes for students. Over the past several years, EXCEL programs have played a significant role in increasing graduation opportunities throughout Richland School District One, helping hundreds of   students remain on track for graduation and post-secondary success. Every credit earned, every course completed, and every diploma awarded represents a life changed and a future expanded.

We hold high expectations because we believe in the potential of every student. At EXCEL, we do not define students by the credits they lack, the mistakes they have made, or the obstacles they have faced. Instead, we focus on their possibilities, their growth, and their future. Our goal is to equip students with the academic skills, personal confidence, and determination necessary to graduate on time and successfully pursue their goals beyond high school.
