Program Announcement

Richland School District One is proud to announce the opening of the EXCEL Flexible Learning Academy (EFLA) – a reimagined, non-punitive academic program that blends the former Evening High School with the EXCEL Academy model.

About the Program

Tier II & Tier III Academic Intervention: EFLA provides targeted academic support for students who need additional structure and flexibility to succeed.
Non-Punitive Placement: This is not a disciplinary program. Students should not be referred for disciplinary reasons. Enrollment is based on academic need, not punishment.
One Class at a Time: Students are enrolled in a single course at a time, allowing for focused progress and increased credit-earning opportunities.
Direct Instruction for EOC Courses: End-of-Course classes will include face-to-face, direct instruction to better prepare students for assessments.

Proven Impact

Over the past five years, the EXCEL Academy and Evening High School programs have:
Increased the district’s overall graduation rate by an average of 5% each year.
Increased each individual high school’s graduation rate by a minimum of 3% annually during the same period.

With the creation of the EXCEL Flexible Learning Academy, Richland One is positioned to build on this success and expand opportunities for students to graduate on time and prepare for post-secondary success.
