  1. Schools will provide the teacher of the child whose parent/guardian is appealing with a copy of the teacher recommendation/rating form which must be completed for the area’s being appealed.
  2. Schools will attach the teacher’s completed recommendation/rating form and a copy of the most recent grade history and testing data to the appeal application and send to the AAP Office.
  3. Principals or their designees will complete the school’s recommendation form.
  4. Schools will deliver the competed appeals packet along with their recommendations to the AAP Office.

Upon receipt of the appeals packet, the district AAP evaluation team will review the information provided. The committee will then recommend one of the following actions:

 Additional testing

  1. Granting the appeal
  2. Rejection of the appeal

After considering all information presented in the appeal, the evaluation team will approve or deny the appeal for AAP placement.  The AAP office will serve as the final decision and the parent/guardian will be notified.
