HELPING STUDENTS TO TAKE THE NEXT STEPS!

Imagine an environment where you can jumpstart or continue your educational goals to launch your career!  Our Adult Education team will travel with you every step of the way offering resources and support. The team members are experts in their areas to ensure that success occurs. Our main goal is to assist students with being successful so let’s start the Richland One Adult Education journey…………

 REGISTRATION

We will begin with your first stop in our Intake Office where you’ll receive professional customer service and reliable information.  After signing in via the Raptor Visitor System, you will receive registration information and scheduled to take the TABE test.

PLACEMENT TESTING AND ORIENTATION

On the day of your TABE test, you will pay the $10 test fee, present valid identification (permit, drivers license) and sign in for testing.  Orientation will take place prior to testing.  Our Adult Education coordinator will give you a detailed overview of our academic programs and shed light on every step you can take to be successful.  Emphasis will be placed on attendance, doing your absolute best on the placement test, and adhering to all academic expectations.  Our security monitor will discuss the appropriate attire that will prepare you for the workplace, he will discuss behavioral expectations, and he will also discuss avenues to share concerns.  Next, you will be intrigued with all the career paths that await you upon completion of your GED.  Our CCN (College and Career Navigator) will share opportunities for you to embark on your career whether it be enlisting in the military, academic programs at local colleges or positions at local industries.

CLASS SCHEDULES

Typically, on the day of placement testing you will have a phone conference with a coordinator to discuss your placement test scores and a schedule that fits your daily expectations (work, childcare, etc.) Priority will be based on the class that best fits your academic needs.

CLASSES

Once your schedule has been established, you will report for your first day.  You will have all the feels of the first day of school, don’t worry, we’re still here for you.  You will pick up your schedule in the main office, pay your fees if applicable and report to class.  (See fee schedule)

CAREER CREDENTIAL

While attending classes, you will be given an opportunity to earn the WIN career credential.  Taking the three WIN assessments (reading, math and data) demonstrates to employers that you have the basic math and reading skills to be a productive employee. Because of this, more and more employers in South Carolina are recognizing and/or using WIN as part of their hiring process.

SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION

You are now at the step in your journey where you have attended class and successfully passed all four parts of your GED tests (Reading, Math, Science and Social Studies).  You will now meet with the CCN to discuss your next steps.  You will continue to receive support as you complete college applications, apply for scholarships, or meet with military recruiters.

Now, let’s get started. We invite you to join our team and begin your Richland One Adult Education journey - it's time!
