    This module provides participants with various ways to enhance the Prekindergarten classroom environment that will promote student achievement. The South Carolina Department of Education Literacy-Rich Classroom Environments Checklist is discussed in detail.     Reading_Writing Workshop

    Grades K-2 will participate in on-site classroom demonstrations and coaching small group instruction utilizing the Reading Workshop Model.Guided reading is a critical component within the balanced literacy approach that supports and scaffolds students as they utilize strategic actions to process text.  These actions enable students not only to read the words on a page but also to understand the meaning both directly and indirectly. An effective processing system enables students to learn from reading and learn more about reading. Implementing effective and precise structures for guided reading will help teachers understand what is needed to increase students’ reading levels.  Contact the Office of Early Childhood Education should you need assistance with this module.  This module is appropriate for instructional assistants who assist teachers with Reading and Writing Workshop.  Course #21871

    This module offers an opportunity for early childhood educators to understand the different components of fluency and ways to incorporate activities that promote fluency within the classroom.
