• Dear Brockman School Family,

Dr. Stark Words cannot express how honored I am to serve as your principal.  In the few weeks that I have been here, it is already evident that the Brockman Elementary School family is thoughtful and intentional in creating a child-centered environment where children grow in mind, body and spirit. It is a special place!

I am eager to meet you and establish a relationship with you so that I can serve your family and support your child’s growth.  My goal is to listen, observe and cultivate your trust.  I want to positively impact your child’s life.  I take to heart the mission of our District that challenges me to be a “leader in transforming lives through education, empowering all students to achieve their potential and dreams.” I recognize that in order to do this, it takes committed adults working together.  My first priority is to build meaningful relationships with you, your children and our staff.

In my professional career, I served as an elementary principal for nine years and a middle school principal for ten years.  The Montessori Method is a new experience for me and it perfectly fits my core values.  I have never considered the educators that I work with teachers of math, science or music, but have instead considered them to be teachers of children.  It’s great to be in a school community where the development of the whole child is central to our mission.

On a personal level, my roots are in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.  I have been married to Dave for 34 years and we have three grown daughters.  We lived in California, Ohio and Pittsburgh and always moved for Dave’s job.  This is the first time in our lives that we moved for personal reasons.  We have two grandchildren, Maya (4) and Maverick (3 months).  They live in this area and we want to be a part of their lives as they grow up.  We are now excited to establish new roots in Columbia!  I met some families at the Meet and Greet on August 2, 2018.  If you were not able to attend, you can view my short introduction presentation at this link.

Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any questions, concerns or ideas that you would like to discuss. I can be reached at 803-790-6743 or heidi.stark@richlandone.org.  I look forward to working closely with you to care for our joyful school community.

    Heidi Stark, Ed.D.
