Principal's Message:

I am excited to be a part of the “Eagle” Family as Principal of Heyward Gibbes Middle School.  I am a proud native of Chester, SC and graduate of Chester Senior High School.  I continued my studies at Winthrop University where I received a B.A. in History with a Secondary Education minor and a M.Ed. in Educational Leadership.  I also attended USC- Columbia where I received an Ed.S. in Education Administration, and I am currently pursuing my doctorate.  I was employed by the Chester County School District for eighteen years where I served as a High Social Studies Teacher (five years), High School Assistant Principal (seven years), and Middle School Principal (six years).  Since coming to Richland School District One in 2017, I have proudly served as an Assistant Principal at Eau Claire High School.  I am married to my lovely wife Sonya, and we are the proud parents of a vibrant baby boy “CJ.” I am thankful for the opportunity to continue my work in the Eau Claire Community to work with our fine students, caring families, phenomenal faculty and staff members, and supportive community members.  Your child’s success is our number one priority, and if there is anything that we can do to assist you and your student in his/ her pursuit of success, please do not hesitate to contact us.

 Dr. Ntiasagwe's Biography: 

Dr. Charity E. Ntiasagwe was born and raised in Nigerian. She is a native of Ndiuche, Arondizugo in Imo State, Nigeria, but has been residing in Columbia, South Carolina for twenty-seven years.

Dr. Ntiasagwe is a life-long educator and has been in the field of education for twenty-two years. She received most of her early education in Nigeria. After graduating from high school in 1982, she attended a two-year Teacher’s College and obtained a Teacher Grade two certificate which prompted her teaching journey. In 1991, she attended Alvan Ikoku College of Education, Owerri, (a three year college) where she majored in English Language and a Nigerian (Igbo) Language. In 1993, she proceeded to the prestigious University of Nigeria, Nsukka, where she continued and completed her undergraduate studies and obtained a Bachelor of Arts (with Honors) majoring in English Language and Education. Meeting her fiancé, Dr. Ntiasagwe moved to the United States in 1994, where they both got married and started a family. In 1997, she continued her journey through higher education; attended Benedict College where she obtained a certificate of completion of a teacher credentialing program. She then moved on to Columbia College in 2004, obtained a Master’s in Education (M.Ed.) in Divergent Learning. In 2008 and 2012, she attended the South Carolina State University where she obtained her Educational Specialist degree (Ed. S.) and a Doctorate in Education Administration (Ed. D.) respectively.  

Currently an Assistant principal. Dr. Ntiasagwe has been a high school administrator for approximately eight years and six months. Prior to becoming an administrator, she was a highly qualified English teacher; she taught for four years and four months in high school, and nine years in middle school (two years of which she was a special education resource teacher, five years as regular education and gifted and talented English Language Arts teacher, and two years as an ELA Teacher Specialist on-Site via SC Department of education).

Among her professional accomplishments include but not limited to being recognized in the Who's Who among America’s Teachers, 2006-2007 (11^th Edition, Vol. l.) publication. She also established a male mentoring program known as "The Young Kings Club," at Keenan High School, where she built partnerships with the founder of ‘Dreamers Academy’ as well as the male’s group at I. Dequincey Newman United Methodist Church in Columbia, South Carolina. At Columbia High School, Dr. Ntiasagwe served as the parent network coordinator and school liaison for all the parent and community organizations affiliated with the school (such as Parent-teacher-student association (PTSA), School Improvement Council (SIC), Parent Advisory Council (PAC), Action Team for Partnership (ATP) and National Network for Partnership Schools (NNPS). She coordinated all the joint activities between the Columbia High school PTSA and the Gamma Nu Omega chapter of the AKA sorority incorporated, organized in honor of CHS refugee students and their families.

Dr. Ntiasagwe has been happily married for twenty-seven years (and counting) to Dr. Innocent Ntiasagwe with whom she had two sons and one daughter; and both share the same passion in working with youths. Dr. Ntiasagwe and her husband are well connected to their Nigerian community. Dr. Ntiasagwe has served, first, as the treasurer, and later, as a Vice President of the Nigerian Women Association of Columbia (NWAC), in Columbia, South Carolina. She loves dancing to especially African music and praise, taking a walk for exercise and gardening.

Her professionalism, excellent work ethics, straightforwardness, firmness, consistency, calm, cool and calculated demeanor are her most admirable qualities according to her peers.
