Message from the Principal

Welcome to the 2018-2019 school year at Pine Grove Elementary School. We are looking forward to an exciting and rewarding school year. This year will be filled with many opportunities for our students to excel academically and participate in many extracurricular activities. Here at The Grove, we seek to provide a high quality education for all students.

We anticipate that parents and other stakeholders of Pine Grove will work with us in providing a wonderful year of engaging and meaningful activities for our students. Many exciting school activities will be provided for students. Upcoming October events include Parent University and Fall Festival.

Our curriculum includes a wide range of learning opportunities for students. This year, we have implemented two single gender classes in 5th grade. Mr. Mckie teaches an all-boys class and Ms. Brown teaches an all-girls class. Both classes use the AAP curriculum with differentiated instruction to ensure all students excel. Our 5th grade team is outstanding and we are excited to see the academic growth that will come from 5th grade.

We will continue to be a uniform school and we ask that you send your child to school wearing the school uniform Monday-Thursday with Friday being a “FreeChoice” day for students. The field trip attire will be school uniforms even if the field trip takes place on Fridays. Students who wear their uniforms weekly, will be able to participate in the Uniform Party at the end of each month.

We extend a special, yearlong invitation to our parents to join us at school activities and events. Please sign up to join the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) and the School Improvement Council (SIC). These organizations help to ensure that we are providing a high quality education to our students. We need and value your involvement and support. We are also a Title One school. Title One meetings will be held several times throughout the year. If you would like to provide input regarding academic achievements and improvements, please attend the meetings.

Please join us in the reading of our book for the 2018-2019 school year book study entitled “The Power of a Positive Team” by Jon Gordon. This book will provide the theme for our school year and help us develop and foster a “Positive Team” atmosphere here at The Grove. Parents please remember that you are also a part of our wonderful team.
