A Message From the Principal

  • Welcome to a new school year at The Grove!  We are incredibly excited about what the 2023-2024 school year will bring for our students and parents. Hopefully, this year will be filled with golden opportunities for our students to excel in many areas.  As we begin this school year, we pledge to our students and parents that this will be a wonderful year of engaging, meaningful, and rigorous work in our classrooms.  There will be exciting school activities, parental involvement opportunities, programs, and events that we will have at The Grove!

During this 2023-2024 school year, the faculty and staff will continue to build upon and refine our foundation of best practices, and we will continue to be leaders in transforming lives through education by empowering all students to reach their potential and dreams.  We will continue to be a uniform school, and we ask that you send your child to school wearing the school uniform Monday-Thursday with Friday being a “Free-Choice” day for students.  The attire for all field trips will be the school uniform.

    Dr. Tracy Pickett

This year we are “Moving Forward”.  We made great gains as a school during the 2023-2024 school year, and we expect to see even greater gains this school year.    Please make sure you are working with your child at home on basic reading, writing, and math skills.  If you need books for students to read, workbooks or work packets for students to complete at home, please contact the school.

We look forward to a very positive and productive year together!   We extend a special, yearlong invitation to our parents to join us at school activities and events whenever you can.  Please sign up to join the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) and the School Improvement Council (SIC).  These organizations help to ensure that we are providing a high quality education for our students.  We want, need, and value your involvement and support in your child’s education!

    Thank you.

    School Report Information

    Dear Parents/Guardians,

We are writing to share important information regarding Pine Grove Elementary School and its recent rating of Below Average by the South Carolina Department of Education (SCDE).

In the recently released report card for the 2022-2023 school year, our school was rated as an Underperforming School. This designation is given to schools whose overall report card score falls in the Below Average to Unsatisfactory range. We understand that this news may be concerning, and we want to assure you that we take this rating seriously.

At Pine Grove Elementary School our commitment to providing an excellent education for your children remains unwavering. We are dedicated to addressing the issues that have led to this rating and taking steps to ensure your child's success. We recognize that your support as parents and guardians is invaluable in this endeavor.

To address this rating and make necessary improvements, our school is developing a Continuous Improvement Plan (CIP). This plan will outline specific strategies and actions that we will implement to enhance our school's academic performance. We will also work on engaging with you to gain valuable feedback and insights to shape this plan, along with our School Improvement Council (SIC).

The Continuous Improvement Plan (CIP) will be presented to our Board of School Commissioners for approval before the January 15, 2024, deadline for the plan to be delivered to the SCDE. Furthermore, schools ranked as Unsatisfactory will provide regular updates to the Board of School Commissioners on our progress. This ensures transparency and accountability in our efforts to improve.

We encourage you to actively participate in this process by sharing your thoughts and suggestions. Your input is crucial as we work together to enhance the educational experience for your child and all our students. Please feel free to reach out to us if you have any questions or concerns, or if you would like to be involved in the development and implementation of the CIP.

We are dedicated to working collaboratively with our teachers, staff, parents, and the community to address the challenges that have led to this rating. With your continued support, we are confident that Pine Grove Elementary School can make the necessary changes to ensure a bright future for our students.

Please take the time to review our 2023 School Snapshot below.

    Sincerely,

    Dr. Tracy M. Pickett
