    Dear Parents,

The 6th Grade Academy has an exciting announcement – we’re hosting our second annual 6GA Spirit Day on May 25th! This will be our last full day before summer break, and we want to make it a celebration of the academics we’ve learned, the talents and passions we’ve shared, and the friendships forged. In the morning, we will host events on the track and field that will encourage friendly competition in academic bowl games, feats of physical challenge, and events that cater to our sillier sides. As well, there will be treats like popsicles and cupcakes. Lunch will be picnic-style outside, with the cafeteria preparing bag lunches for those who get their lunches from school. The afternoon will feature events in the auditorium, like a talent show and an academic round of Family Feud. It promises to be a fun and memorable day.

Our 6GA Spirit Day is an event that we’d like every one of our students to participate in. However, for any student who chooses to misbehave, we will find an academic alternative for him or her. Thus, students who earn any one of the following disciplinary actions, beginning Monday, May 1st and lasting through May 25th will not be allowed to participate in the field day experience: three or more lunch detentions, and/or one or more days in ISS, and/or one or more days on out-of-school-suspension. It is our hope that no students will fall into this category!

As we prepare for the big day, we’d like to solicit your help. If you have the ability to donate food items or volunteer some much needed time, we would truly appreciate your assistance! Please contact Mr. Seamans at charles.seamans@richlandone.org if you would like to donate bottled water, cupcakes, and/or volunteer for a hourly shift.

    Sincerely,

    Your HMS 6GA Staff
