This week, we celebrated all of our stakeholders for American Education Week. I share with my staff that after the holiday break, someone will hit the fast forward button and before we know it, the year will be over. However, it feels like that has already occurred as we prepare for the Thanksgiving holidays with a four day break that begins next Tuesday, November 26th - 29th . We enjoyed a delicious meal last week in our café and we are grateful for those parents and guardians that dined with us. Although we are only here for one day next week, if your child is not at school, they will be marked absent. We are planning for a fun, engaging day of learning.
As we prepare for the holidays, I am asking you parents to make sure that our students get plenty of rest and read each day for at least 20 minutes during the break. When they return on Monday, December 2nd, we will begin mid-year testing as we prepare for the rigor when we return in January, 2020 after the Christmas holiday break. Your child’s attendance here each day makes a HUGE difference as we have high expectations for all of our cougars!
A reminder that our instructional day begins at 7:30 am. Students who arrive after 7:40 are late and will be marked tardy. We ask that you please come in and sign your child in when they are late. If your child is a car rider or misses the bus, please try to have them here by 7:25 if they are eating breakfast in our cafe. Our instructional time is critical to us. Interim reports for the 2nd 9 weeks will be coming home the week after Thanksgiving on Friday, December 6th .
Thanks to our Parent Specialist, Ms. Hinton for organizing our Donuts for Dads and to our Dads for showing out! We had about 50 Dads here on last Friday! Muffins for Moms is scheduled for Wednesday, December 18th. Mark your calendars! Thanks also to our parents for coming out to the Junior League event on last Thursday. So sorry they ran out of food. We promise to assist them with planning more appropriately next time. You showed out in record numbers!
We still have Worlds’ Finest candy bars to sell. Please see Ms. Mayes in the front office if you are interested.
