Dear Juniors,
The American Legion Auxiliary is again providing girls who have just completed their junior year the opportunity to be considered to become a delegate to Palmetto Girls State. Palmetto Girls state is a statewide program in which students learn about government and the political process by forming and implementing a mock state government for the fictional "state of Palmetto." This year's Palmetto Girls State will be held on the campus of Presbyterian College in Clinton, SC, from June 11 to June 17.
Palmetto Girls State is a nationally recognized program in which students develop leadership skills and form relationships with other students throughout the state. Students can learn more about the program by visiting the Palmetto Girls State website at www.palmettogirlsstate.net.
The local chapter of the American Legion Auxiliary will make the determination of which students from Dreher will be able to serve as delegates to Palmetto Girls State. In order to be considered, junior girls should complete the application below and return to Kevin Kirkley in the counseling office no later than February 27, 2023. Then, representatives from the American Legion Auxiliary will make their selections based on the applications submitted. The cost of attending the program is $340 for the week. Students must be able to attend the entire week in order to be selected as a delegate.
If you have questions or need more information, please contact Mr. Kirkley in the counseling office.
