Mr. Deon Wallace

Hello Hornet Family.   I am Deon Wallace.   As a new Assistant Principal to C.A. Johnson High School, it is my sincere honor to be a part of such a respected institution. I am looking forward to working with the awesome staff, students, parents and community to provide the best possible educational experience as possible.

As for me, I am a product of Richland School District One.  I attended Hopkins Middle School and graduated from Lower Richland High School in 1988. After graduation, I joined the United States Army and was later deployed to Operation Desert Storm. After my end term of service from the military, I attended Grambling State University where I received a Bachelor of Science degree. After leaving Grambling, I joined the Tulsa Police Department in Tulsa Oklahoma. I eventually resigned from the police department, returned to Columbia, South Carolina, and joined the Columbia Police Department. After having many encounters with African American juveniles, I realized that I would be better served in the educational setting in order to reach these young African American men prior to their having encounters with law enforcement.

I have been in the education field for seven (7) years. I spent three (3) years as a Business Education Teacher at Hopkins Middle School before being promoted to an Assistant Administrator at Crayton Middle School. Two years later, I was promoted to an Assistant Principal at W.G. Sanders Middle School. I have a beautiful wife, Christy, who is a Regional Property Manager, and four amazing children. Deon Jr.  is 21 and a Senior at Clemson University studying mechanical engineering.  Bre’Al, is 20 and in the United States Army.  Darius is 18, attends Lander University, and is a member of  the soccer team, and Seniya, who is 16, a junior at Ridgeview High School.

Parents, teachers, support staff, community and administration all have an important role in encouraging our students to become life-long learners. It is my desire to provide opportunities for our students to acquire the skills necessary to become productive citizens in our changing society.

If there is anything that I can assist you with, please do not hesitate to contact me at deon.wallace@richlandone.org.
