Language Immersion Program at Carver-Lyon Elementary
-
Program Description:
Students in the Richland One Language Immersion Program have the opportunity to learn Spanish, Mandarin Chinese or French through an immersion model. Beginning in pre-kindergarten, students spend half of their instructional day in a Spanish or Chinese classroom learning math, science and Spanish/Chinese literacy. Students spend the other 50% of the instructional day in their English-speaking classroom learning English language arts and social studies.
The goal of the dual immersion program is to have students learn to read, write, speak and listen in Spanish, Mandarin Chinese or French, all through the meaningful context of math and science.
