We Are Richland One, a nationally accredited school district building on a rich history and tradition of excellence. With 52 schools and special centers, our district stretches over 480 square miles and encompasses urban, suburban and rural communities.

Our 22,000 students represent the next generation of educators, scientists, artists, entrepreneurs and leaders. Year after year, our graduates go on to attend some of the nation’s most prestigious colleges and universities. The Richland One Class of 2021 earned more than $65 million in scholarships and other financial assistance. Our sports teams and individual student-athletes won 26 state championships in the 2020-2021 school year.

Our location in South Carolina’s capital city gives our students and employees access to advantages you won’t find anywhere else – innovative academic programs, unique partnerships with businesses, higher education institutions and the faith community, as well as unlimited cultural opportunities.

We offer unique learning opportunities and experiences designed to appeal to students’ individual interests and help prepare them for college and careers. Our magnet and choice programs include Montessori programs at the elementary and middle school levels; an elementary language immersion program (Mandarin Chinese, Spanish and French); and career magnet programs at all grade levels. We also are proud to be the home of South Carolina’s only Challenger Learning Center for space science education.

Our many other Points of Pride including having the first high school commercial driver’s license (CDL) training program in South Carolina (and only the third in the nation) and the first certified pre-apprenticeship program in the state. Also, during the 2020-2021 school year, Richland One was named a Purple Star School District by the South Carolina Department of Education in recognition of the district’s significant commitment to supporting military families.

All Richland One schools have been named national Healthy Schools Award winners. The district also has received national recognition for our cybersecurity (IT) initiatives and national awards for excellence in financial reporting for 32 consecutive years.
