A Message from the Acting Principal
Greetings Heyward Gibbes Eagle Parents/Guardians:
A new year filled with new and endless opportunities is upon us. As we transition from one administrator to another, please rest assure that the main goal has been and still is to have students authentically engaged in standards based instructional delivery. Academic expectations still remain the same and I hope you will continue to work with us as one team. Please continue to have daily conversations with your child about what is going on with them academically.
My goal is to ensure that instructional time is protected. To achieve this goal, please make sure students arrive at school no later than 8:45 a.m. and prepared for learning. In addition have students read at home each day and explain what they have read to you. While at school students are engaged in SSR (silent sustained reading) each morning as well as grade level reads during literacy each day. And finally, have students complete assigned homework each day. Homework is designed to reinforce concepts as well as provide practice.
I am honored to have been chosen to lead a wonderful school with an exceptional staff. I encourage you to contact me for any questions/concerns that you may have.

Richland County School District One is implementing a Redo/Retake Plan as a strategy to help ensure mastery learning for students. Nationwide, educators are continuously looking for methods to incorporate into the classroom which would increase opportunities for students to master content/skills in order to be successful in school.
