A Message from the Principal principal 2

Welcome to the 2017-2018 school year.  I am truly honored to be a part of the “Saints” community, which has already given me such a warm welcome!  In just the few interactions, it’s become abundantly clear that HB Rhame Elementary is a unique and special place for learning.

I’m excited to have an opportunity to work alongside an engaged community as we impact the lives of our students and families. Your community’s dedication, commitment and hard-work in our school makes me proud to say that I am a Rhame Saint and here is “WHERE EXCELLENCE BEGINS”. And this year we are Saints Soaring apart of “One World with Endless Possibilities”. The vision for all students is be equipped with critical and problem solving skills, creativity, innovation, life and character skills to ensure they are  all “Profiles of a South Carolina Graduate”. Once a child enters the doors of our school we set the foundation that will fuel their academic journey for a lifetime. Thus our mission is to transform lives by creating College and Career Readiness through Academic Success for all students.  This year we will begin to implement all components of STEAM through a variety of school-wide integrated units of study designed to actively engage students in these areas through research embedded practices. Furthermore, we expanded our corporate partnership with Colonial Life to support our School READ 2 Succeed plan to ensure all students are reading on grade level by the end of third grade. Subsequently, we will strengthen our home-school connections through promoting 20 minutes of nightly reading for every child.  Every child will read for the goal of 100 books by May 2018, if we meet our goal as a school we would have read 42,200 books. Building high levels Literacy skills in all our students will provide students stronger logical reasoning critical thinking skills, but the pure joy for reading will lie at the core of every child.

I believe that great schools are the results of great teachers, so my primary objective will be to ensure that every student is receiving high-quality instruction every day. Therefore, one of the most important aspects of my work here will be building positive strong relationships with students, teachers families and the community.  You’ll find me in the car and bus lanes, hallways, classrooms or even on the playground. My passion has been and always will be educating students.  With that in mind, you can expect that I will work diligently on behalf of every child to ensure a world class educational experience every day.

I have an open door policy, so please do not hesitate to reach out to me if you have any questions, concerns, or ideas you would like to share. I welcome your input and feedback.  I am thankful for the opportunity to serve your families and community in this role and I look forward to making a positive impact as we launch the 2017-2018 school year “As one world with endless possibilities!
