Attendance is very critical to the continued growth of our students. Please continue to partner with us and ensure that your children are on daily with their teachers. We understand that it may be hard to make this happen consistently, and we appreciate your efforts thus far. Please don’t hesitate to communicate with your child teachers or continue calling the school if you have an extenuating circumstance. You still must comply with emailing, texting, or calling your child’s teacher or the school if they will not be in attendance.
Also parents, please respond to Mrs. Fearing’s email if you received one from her about Attendance. We were recently told that it is important that we have all attendance cleared up by January 22nd in order to possibly receive some funding from the State Department. This funding is depending upon your child’s attendance.
Meal distribution/pick-up on Wednesdays while we are out for the Phase 1 will be changed to Thursday, January 21st for NEXT WEEK ONLY. You can pick up food from 9:00 am to 12:00pm. You do not have to register beforehand.
The seven distribution sites are Carver-Lyon, Eau Claire, Caughman Road, St. Andrews, Lower Richland, Southeast and South Kilbourne.

Congratulations to Dominie King for being named the 2021-22 Teacher of the Year!
It is with great pride and excitement that I, Janet Campbell, greet you as the newly appointed Principal of Burnside Elementary School for the 2020-2021 school year. I have been dedicated to the field of education for more than twenty four years and I am eager to continue my journey as a Burnside Bee. My Vision for Burnside is to be “Intentional with Every Child, Every Day” working together with parents, teachers, staff and stakeholders in being responsible for the academic learning, safety and emotional growth of our students. Partnered with the teachers and staff, I will work hard to continue the legacy of success established by Burnside by building strong relationships with parents, students and community partners.
As your Principal, it is important to me that when teachers, students, parents and our stakeholders step through the doors of Burnside they are excited to be here! This attitude enables usto meet the challenges of academic excellence in a positive, fun, and nurturing environment. I want to keep communication open to you, for I welcome your input. It is with a strong commitment that I am joining Burnside Elementary and I am looking forward to leading and learning together with you as a community to meet their goals and have a successful school year!
This year is going to be unfamiliar and in some regards a taxing year trying to navigate uncharted times of which we have never seen before. Nevertheless, we will Triumph this Year Together because we are strong, resilient and we will lean on each other for strength.
