School Promotion
Students in grades six, seven, and eight must pass reading, language
arts, mathematics, science and social studies and meet standards required
by state regulations to be promoted to the next grade.

High
School Promotion
High school students must meet the follow minimum standards:
Grade
9 Minimum Requirements
To be promoted to the ninth grade students must have met grade 8 minimum
standards.
Grade 10 Minimum Requirements
To be promoted to the tenth grade students must have earned at least
five units of high school credit, distributed as follows:
One unit of English
One unit in mathematics
Three additional units
Total - Five (5) units
Grade 11 Minimum Requirements
To be promoted to the eleventh grade students must have earned at least
eleven units of high school credit, distributed as follows:
Two units in English
Two units in mathematics
Seven additional units
Total - Eleven (11) units
Grade 12 Minimum Requirements
To be promoted to the twelfth grade students must have earned at least
16 units of high school credit and be eligible for graduation. Credits
will be distributed as follows:
Three units in English
Three units in mathematics
Ten additional units
Total - Sixteen (16) units

Graduation Requirements
To qualify for a state high school diploma, students must earn units
of credit, as specified below, meet Exit Exam standards in reading,
mathematics, and writing, receive specific instruction in health
education, and demonstrate mastery of computer competency. The units
are distributed as follows:

NOTE: In 2003 Exit Exam requirements will change to PACT standards.
Students are encouraged to exceed the minimum number of credits for graduation
and take advantage of the many opportunities provided in each of the
District One high schools. Intelligent and mature curricular choices
in the elective areas will prepare each student for job-entry and/or
post-secondary educational opportunities after graduation.
