Overview:
Students
will hear the story of The Three Billy Goats Gruff and
then act out the story using "stepping stones"
marked with the days of the week. The students must say
the days of the week in the correct order to get to the
other side of the river without being eaten by the troll.

Assessment:
Given
a set of days of the week cards, the student will place
them in the correct order (beginning with Sunday as the
first day).

Instructional Activity:
Teacher
reads story of The Three Billy Goats Gruff to students.
After
hearing the story, teacher spreads a long sheet of blue
paper
On
the floor. The teacher then shows the students the paper
stepping stones with the days of the week written on them.
The teacher tapes them in sequential order across the
river, beginning with Sunday. A student is chosen to wear
the troll mask and wait on the billy goats to cross over.
The teacher explains that each goat (student) must step on
the stones and correctly say the days of the week, in
order to avoid being eaten by the troll. To add to the
fun, the children can choose to be the big, middle-sized,
or small goat and speak in the voice tone that the chosen
goat used in the story.
