to make reading fun. As your child begins
to recognize words and wants to read,
don't be too quick to say the word for
her. Have her guess what the word might
be.

spoil the story by getting hung up on
one word. Remember, the important thing
is to make the story or words make sense.

Encourage
your child to read or look at books every
day.

sure your child sees you reading for
fun and to get information. Phone books,
TV listings, magazines, etc.

your child to read to you or tell you
the story she just read.

Reading
and writing go together.

your child to write often. Don't be surprised
when you see words spelled in very original
ways. Encourage good guesses and revise
only if needed.

Limit
the amount of time your child watches
television or plays video games. These
activities may interfere with your child's
reading skills.

child write back,
