Transitional
English for Speakers of Other Languages
The
Transitional English for Speakers of Other
Languages (TESOL) program serves students
in any grade who have difficulty speaking,
reading or writing in English because it
is not their primary language. They are
assigned regular classes and also receive
daily instruction in TESOL. Tutorial and
translation assistance is provided when
feasible. The district currently serves
students who represent 31 different foreign
languages.
The
TESOL program is offered at three levels-novice
(little or no English), intermediate and
advanced. Reading, writing, listening and
speaking are taught, with an emphasis on
oral communication. |
