If your child shows signs of injuries or emotional damage which could be the result of abuse or neglect, the law requires school employees to report this to the Department of Social Services (DSS). DSS will investigate to determine if there is abuse or neglect. If so, DSS will work with you and other resources to help your family find ways to overcome the problem and protect your child from further harm.
