Description: This is a 12-week program that trains homeless men and women
from the Midlands area in building and apartment maintenance and residential
construction. Provides hands-on training projects and life skills assessments
as well as academic instruction. After completing the program, job placement
and follow-up services are available. Graduates receive a Pre-Apprenticeship
Certification Training (PACT) certificate signifying accomplishments
in residential construction, carpentry, electrical, plumbing, heating
and air, and apartment maintenance. Participants should have transitional
housing; have 5th grade level math and language comprehension, drug and
alcohol-free to 6-months; free of medications that would inhibit job
performance; able to climb ladders; able to lift 70 lbs; have recent
tetanus vaccination.
