FORT JACKSON RELOCATION INFORMATION
Orientation For New Students

New students and their parents meet with the data base specialist or the assistant principal for orientation and registration at the elementary school. At the middle school and high school the guidance counselor conducts the orientation and registration. After the registration process is complete, the new student is matched with a student welcomer who provides a tour of the building and usually serves as the new student's "buddy" for the remainder of the day. Schools offer a variety of activities to assist the new student in their transition. These might include such events as newcomer groups, ice cream or popcorn parties, and lunch with the counselor.
