EXIT EXAM
As a requirement for receiving a South Carolina High School Diploma,
each public school student must pass the state Exit Examination. The
exam, which is administered in the Spring to all tenth graders, consists
of sections on reading, mathematics, and writing. Students must receive
passing on all three parts of the Exit Exam. Passing scores are as follows:
reading-700, math-700, and writing-3.0. Students who fail any or all
portions of the exam will have an opportunity to retake those parts once
in the eleventh grade and twice in the twelfth grade after required participation
in a remediation program in the deficient areas.
