Occupational
and Physical Therapy
Services
Laws were passed in 1975 "To ensure that
all children with disabilities have available
to them a free appropriate public education
which includes special education and related
services to meet their unique needs."
Occupational and Physical Therapy are two
related services which may be required to assist
a child with disabilities to benefit from special
education.
Related services must be related to and supportive
of the child's educational program.
The goal of educationally relevant therapy
is to minimize the effects of the student's
handicapping condition on his/her ability to
participate in the educational process.
