Rededication of Heyward Career & Technology Center
The community is invited to celebrate the completion of renovations at Heyward Career and Technology Center at 4 p.m., Sunday, December 10. Heyward is located at 3560 Lynhaven Drive. The rededication ceremony includes student performances, a formal ribbon cutting, and tours of the center.
Eau Claire High School Production: For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow is Enuf
Eau Claire High School invites the community to come out and enjoy their rendition of For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow is Enuf. Although it’s not your usual holiday play, it carries an important message that celebrates the strength and tenacity of African-American women. The production will be performed by the Eau Claire High School Dance Ensemble and The Shamrock Players. Mark your calendars for a one-time performance on Monday, December 11, at 7:30 p.m. at the Cottingham Theatre on the campus of Columbia College. Admission is $5.00.
Christmas Carols and Gifts for Children in the Hospital
Second-graders at Forest Heights Elementary will be bringing Christmas joy and gifts to patients at the Children’s Hospital at Palmetto Richland on Tuesday, December 12 at 9:30 a.m. The sound of Christmas carols will fill the atrium and children’s ward as students serenade children admitted to the hospital. In addition to singing songs, students will give the young patients coloring books and crayons they created in science class.
Board of School Commissioners Meeting
Richland One’s Board of School Commissioners will hold its next regularly scheduled meeting on Tuesday, December 12 at 7:00 p.m. at the Stevenson Administration Building, 1616 Richland Street. Board meeting agendas are posted online at www.richlandone.org ; click on the School Board link.
Nutcracker to be Performed by Greenview Elementary
On Thursday, December 14, Greenview Elementary presents its annual "Nutcracker" performance starring the third-grade class and featuring school Principal Delores Gilliard as the Marzipan Queen. The school is accepting donations of $2.00 for this delightful event. The curtain rises at 7 p.m. at the Keenan Theatre.
