Crayton Middle School Dedication
Richland One will dedicate the new Crayton Middle School during a special ceremony at 4 p.m. Sunday, November 19 at the school, located at 5000 Clemson Avenue. The program will include student performances, a formal ribbon-cutting ceremony and tours of the school.


Webber Elementary’s Annual Thanksgiving Basket Program
For more than 20 years, Webber Elementary students and staff have pooled their resources, talents, and giving hearts to provide Thanksgiving baskets for the elderly and needy families in their community. On Tuesday, November 21 at 9 a.m., with all of the Thanksgiving baskets lining the stage, Webber students will gather with their teachers to perform their annual Thanksgiving program for the community. After the songs, skits, poems and dances are finished, local ministers will pick up the baskets and deliver them to members of their congregations. International Paper, a business volunteer partner with Webber, donated the turkeys and pies for the baskets. Parents, students and staff contributed the other food items.


Thanksgiving Holiday Closings
As a reminder, Richland One schools and administrative offices will be closed November 22 through November 24 for the Thanksgiving holiday. Regular schedules will resume on Monday, November 27.


"Home for the Holidays"/ Teacher Recruitment Program
During the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays Richland One will be interviewing prospective teachers to fill vacancies for this year and the upcoming 2007-2008 school year. Interviews will be held Saturday, November 25 and Wednesday, December 27. Teachers interested in scheduling an interview should contact the Richland One Office of Human Resources at 231-7418 or by e-mail at dtsullivan@richlandone.org .


Richland One Students Perform at Governor’s Carol Lighting
Richland One’s Elementary Festival Choir will be performing Christmas carols at the annual Governor’s Carol Lighting on Sunday, November 26 at 6 p.m. on the Statehouse Grounds. Please come out and support these gifted singers.


Board of School Commissioners
Richland One’s Board of School Commissioners will hold its next regularly scheduled meeting on Tuesday, November 28 at 7:00 p.m. at St. Andrews Middle School, 1231 Bluefield Road. Board meeting agendas will be posted online at www.richlandone.org ; click on the School Board link.


Keenan High presents Little Shop of Horrors
Keenan High School’s upcoming production of Little Shop of Horrors has everything….great music, dancing, and acting, but one of the stars of show isn’t a student. It’s the man-eating, soulful-singing plant created by the Keenan robotics team. The curtain rises on this outstanding comedy on November 29 – 30 at the Keenan Theatre at 7 p.m. Admission is $5.00 for adults and $3.00 for students.


Puberty Prep Workshop for Parents
Parents are invited to attend a Puberty Prep workshop on Thursday, November 30, at 6 p.m. at Webber Elementary. The workshop will show parents how to better communicate with their children about puberty, physical development and other health concerns. Refreshments, door prizes and childcare will be provided. Parents who want more information or to register should call Karen Dukes at 695-5700, ext. 2196.
