Heyward Career and Technology Center To Host Open House
Heyward Career and Technology Center will host its annual open house on Tuesday, September 25. In addition to a delicious dinner prepared by culinary arts students, parents and visitors will get to view different demonstrations including a nail-hammering contest by construction students. Cosmetology students will showcase various hairstyles they have created. This popular community event begins at 6 p.m.

Richland One Board of School Commissioners to Meet
The Richland One Board of School Commissioners will hold its next regularly scheduled meeting on Tuesday, September 25 at Gibbes Middle School, 500 Summerlea Drive. Open session begins at 7 p.m. Board meeting agendas are posted on the district’s Web site at www.richlandone.org; click on the School Board link.

Lower Richland High School Celebrates Grandparents Day
Lower Richland High School will honor the grandparents of its students in a special celebration at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, September 27. Grandparents are invited to attend a morning program that includes performances by the LR chorus and band, a delicious breakfast prepared by culinary arts students, and drawings for door prizes. Organizers of this annual event say the senior citizens sometimes will share their words of wisdom with the teens or sing a song or two from their generation.

New Keenan High School to be Dedicated
Richland One will hold a dedication ceremony for the new Keenan High School at 4 p.m., Sunday, September 30 in the school gym. Keenan is located at 361 Pisgah Church Road. The new school was built through the district’s Schools for the 21st Century bond construction program. The dedication ceremony will include student entertainment, special guest speakers, tours and a ribbon-cutting ceremony.
