Richland One Students to Remember Victims of September 11th
On Monday, September 10 Richland One students will visit the National September 11th Memorial and Exhibit, which begins its national tour in Columbia at Finlay Park. Students, who will be at the park from 1 - 2 p.m., have been invited to view and sign a beam from the bombing of the World Trade Center. The beam will be used in the construction of the permanent memorial that will be built on the site of the World Trade Center.


Motivational Speaker to Visit St. Andrews Middle School
What will you do after you graduate from high school? That’s an important question for students and their parents. Teachers at St. Andrews Middle School hope the inspirational story of author Mychal Wynn will start students thinking and planning now for college or other post-graduation goals.

Wynn will visit the school September 10-12 to share his insights based on his motivational book, Follow Your Dreams: Lessons That I learned In School. The entire eighth-grade class is currently reading Wynn’s book and will have an opportunity to meet the author and get his advice on making plans and goals for the future. On Monday, September 10, Wynn will meet with parents and students in a special session at 6 p.m. in the school auditorium. On September 11-12, the author will visit students in their classrooms to talk with them and answer their questions. St. Andrews Middle is located at 1231 Bluefield Road.


Board of School Commissioners to Meet
The Richland One Board of School Commissioners will hold its next regularly scheduled meeting on Tuesday, September 11 at the Stevenson Administration Building, 1616 Richland Street. Open session begins at 7 p.m. Board meeting agendas are posted on the district’s Web site at www.richlandone.org; click on the School Board link.


PTO to Host Prayer Walk
Meadowfield Elementary’s PTO will be hosting its annual prayer walk for staff, students and parents on Saturday, September 15,
from 9-10 a.m. While walking through the school, participants will sing inspirational songs, read scriptures and pray for a successful school year. Meadowfield is located at 525 Galway Lane.


Newly Renovated St. Andrews Middle School to be Rededicated
The Richland One Board of School Commissioners and the Administration will hold a rededication ceremony for St. Andrews Middle School at 4 p.m. Sunday, September 16 at the school, which is located at 1231 Bluefield Road. St. Andrews underwent major renovations as part of the district's Schools for the 21st Century bond construction program. The rededication program will include student entertainment, special guest speakers and a ribbon-cutting ceremony.
