Columbia High Band Sponsors March-a-thon
On Saturday, June 2 students in the Columbia High School band are sponsoring a march-a-thon to raise money to cover their band fees. Members of the Band of Gold are looking for sponsors to donate money for every lap they complete around the track. They will be walking the school track from 8:30 a.m. to noon.


Challenger Learning Center Opens Summer Camp
The first session of summer camp begins at the Challenger Learning Center on June 4. Fifth, sixth and seventh-grade students will learn about virtual flight simulation, building rockets and wind tunnels and much, much more.

Camps will be held Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. June 4–14 and June 18–28. Parents who need more information or who would like to register their children should contact Thelma Clavon, director of the Challenger Center, at 929-3951.

The Challenger Learning Center is an exciting, hands-on simulated space science environment where students and educators work in teams to solve real-life math, science and technology problems during a space flight simulation. The center is dedicated to the memory of the Challenger Space Shuttle crew and is modeled after NASA’s Johnson Space Center.


Last Day of School for Year-round School
The last day of school for students at Forest Heights Elementary, the district’s year-round school, will be Tuesday, June 5.
