March. 27-31, 2006 Middle School Academic Quiz Bowl
On Tuesday, March 28th students will test their
knowledge in math, history, literature and
science in the Middle School Academic Quiz
Bowl. Teams from all nine Richland One middle
schools compete in written and oral elimination
rounds until the top three teams emerge to
compete in the championship match. This is
no contest for the faint hearted. These students’ intellectual
skills will be put to the test from 8:30
a.m. - 2:30 p.m. at the Olympia Learning
Center, 621 Bluff Road. Parents are encouraged
to attend.
International Day at A.C. Flora High School
The world comes to A.C. Flora High School on
March 28, as students celebrate International
Day from 9:30 a.m. - noon. The student body
of Flora represents 67 nationalities. That
diversity is being honored with a parade
of international flags, as well as songs,
dance and music from around the world. Students
will wear costumes of their native lands
and feast on foods representing nearly every
continent. Money raised from the food fair
and other events will go to four international
charities: Romania’s Building School
Libraries Project; UNICEF; The Ministry of
Hope, which feeds AIDS orphans in Malawi,
Africa; and That Landmine Thing, which destroys
landmines in Croatia and Serbia.

Commissioners Meeting
The Richland One Board of School Commissioners
will hold its next regularly scheduled
meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 28 at
Gadsden Elementary, 1660 South Goodwin
Circle. Board meeting agendas are posted

"Brown
Sugar and the Spices" Ballet Performed by
Keenan Students
On March 30 Keenan High School’s drama
department will present "Brown Sugar
and the Spices," an original ballet based
on the classic tale of Snow White and the Seven
Dwarfs. The production includes modern dance
and jazz. The curtain rises at 6:30 p.m. at
the Keenan Theater. There is no admission fee.
