Black History Month Event: Wall of Fame
Unveiling
On February 13th, Meadowfield Elementary will
unveil its Black History Wall of Fame at 1:00
p.m. Students’ drawings and writings
about the accomplishments of famous African-Americans
will be on display.
Career Quest: A fast track to job information
On February 14th, all Richland One eighth-graders
will participate in Career Quest, a program
that will help them prepare for the transition
into high school. Students will have the
opportunity to talk face-to-face with hundreds
of employers and get first-hand information
on the academic requirements of various professions.
Fort Jackson is hosting Career Quest at the
Solomon Center from 8:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Award Presentation:
At approximately 8:30 a.m. Richland One Superintendent
Allen Coles will make a special presentation
to Brigadier General H. James Schwitters,
Commanding General of Ft. Jackson. An award
of appreciation will also be presented to
the Victory Brigade.
Media Security Alert:
Fort Jackson has requested that members of
the media who plan on attending Career Quest
notify the Richland One Office of Communications
as soon as possible so that they can be put
on the security list.
Jump Rope for Heart
On February 14, hundreds of Caughman Road Elementary
students will jump rope for a good cause.
Students have accepted pledges to jump rope
in the gym for various lengths of time. The
money they raise will be donated to the American
Heart Association. The jumping starts bright
and early at 8:00 a.m. and continues throughout
the day.
Cock-a-doodle-Moo! Kindermusik Program
Parents of infants up to 18 months old can
immerse their babies into the musical learning
environment of Richland One’s Kindermusik
program. This unique program will engage
your baby’s senses and reward their
curiosity with object and instrument exploration,
vocal play, singing, creative movement and
a colorful literature component. Kindermusik
programs will be held at Meadowfield Elementary
from 11:00 – 11:45 a.m. on the following
dates: February 15, 22, March 2, 8, 15 and
22. Space is limited. Please call 231-6705
to register. The Kindermusik program costs
$25.00. The price includes CD’s and
other materials needed for the program.
Meeting of the Board of School Commissioners
Richland One's Board of School Commissioners
will hold its next regularly scheduled meeting
on Tuesday, February 14, at 7:00 p.m. at
the Stevenson Administration Building, 1616
Richland Street. Board meeting agendas are
