SWMBE Awards
The Richland One Board of School Commissioners has made it a priority to include small, women, and minority-owned firms in the district’s procurement process.
More than 50 small, woman-, and minority-owned firms are performing most of this construction work in the 2002 Bond Referendum. Three of these firms-- Patterson Masonry, Final Touch Painting and
South Carolina Steel Erectors-- have been recognized through the district's Small, Women and Minority-Business Enterprise Awards Program. These companies are being honored for the fine craftsmanship, professionalism and cooperative spirit that they have exhibited while working on the various school construction sites.
GFOA and ASBO Awards for Financial Services
Richland County School District One has received the highest honors in financial reporting and accounting from the Government Finance Officer Association and the American Association of School Business Officials for the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) for fiscal year ending June 30, 2004. This is the 17th consecutive year that the district has received this highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting. The district must have a “clean” audit report or unqualified opinion to qualify for these national awards.
