Richland One School to Receive National Automotive Certification
Take your car to any mechanic these days and before the technician pulls out a wrench, he or she reaches for the computer. That’s because repairing today’s cars requires more than mechanical skill; technicians must have a thorough knowledge of automotive systems and good computer skills. The top-of-the-line training certification for any auto mechanic comes from the National Automotive Technician Education Foundation (NATEF). Richland One Students Celebrate with Lunch Buddy Volunteers
On Tuesday, April 4 hundreds of adult volunteers and the Richland One students they have befriended met at various locations across the city to have some fun and celebrate the success of the Lunch Buddy program. A Lunch Buddy is a caring adult who spends two hours a month with a Richland One student, sharing food, fun and friendship. This year, more than 800 students and community volunteers are participating in the program, which included Tuesday’s end-of-the-year activities. More>>

Richland One Students To Receive Child ID Kits
This week all Richland One schools are scheduled to receive child identification kits courtesy of the state’s credit unions. The shipments are part of a statewide initiative from the SC Credit Union League, Inc. to provide ID kits for every student in the state from kindergarten to 12th grade. Students will take home the kits which include materials and instructions that will allow parents to fingerprint their children and collect DNA samples. More>>

The Richland One Board of School Commissioners approved the 2006-2007 school-year calendar at its meeting on January 10. Richland One Offers Free Class for Local Construction Contractors
Richland One wraps up its three-part series for local contractors this coming Thursday, January 12. The final session covers project management and is open to any local contractor who has an interest in doing a school construction project with Richland One. The class is open to the public, but you must register first. The final class will be held at the Lyon Street Services Center, 1310 Lyon Street, from 6:30 - 8:30 PM.
