WEDNESDAY A.M., DEC. 12,
2001 - Richland One's school board, meeting last night, re-elected its same officers for calendar year 2002. Vince Ford will be chairman, Lane Quinn will be vice chairman and Dr. Sandra Manning will be secretary-treasurer. King B.L. Jeffcoat was reappointed as parliamentarian.
A formal recommendation on the future of Olympia School will be presented to the board at its Jan. 8 meeting for action.
The board agreed to appoint a committee to consider a request for naming of a facility.
A contract for a computerized document/imaging system was awarded to Automated Document Management Solutions, Inc. The system will allow Human Resources and Legal Services to scan, retrieve and store indefinitely employee information and legal documents.
The Comprehensive Annual Financial Report for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2001, was presented as information. The
auditors' opinion was unqualified, and there are no management letter findings.
The 34 teachers who achieved certification by the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards, the highest credential available in the teaching profession, were recognized at the meeting. Last year, the district had only 18 such teachers.
It was announced that AAA basketball will be featured at Carolina Coliseum Wednesday, Dec. 19, with Dreher's varsity teams take on Keenan's varsity teams. The
girls' game begins at 6:30 p.m., and the boys' game begins at 8 p.m. Tickets are $4 at the door. The Dreher girls are the defending state AAA champions, and the Keenan boys are the two-time, defending state AAA champions. |
