Richland One Arts Festival:
Can You Feel The Rhythm?
Imagine a celebration of the arts so big that
it involves more than 1,000 student performers
showcasing their talents in jazz, ballet, classical
music, theater, West African drum beats and
much, much more!
Richland One invites the community to come
out and enjoy its 2006 Arts Festival which
will overtake the Carolina Coliseum on Wednesday,
March 8th at 7:00 p.m. A day-time performance
will be held for district fifth-graders at
10:15 a.m. Performers will include district
middle and high school honor bands, orchestras
and choruses, as well as the Richland One Faculty
Jazz Orchestra and the Logan Leopards Steel
Drum Ensemble.
The 2006 Arts Festival, Mozart, Magic and
the Muses! is thematically linked to the Columbia
Mozart Festival and the celebration of Mozart’s
250th birthday. Music composed by Mozart and
other great artists who helped inspire the
Magic of the arts will be presented at the
event. The Muses are the Greek goddesses who
preside over the arts and sciences and inspire
those who excel at these pursuits.
Richland One’s annual Arts Festival
celebrates the power of arts in education and
showcases the successes, talents and artistic
achievements of Richland One students. The
event includes special performances by faculty,
as well as national and international professional
artists. The list of special
guests who have appeared in the past reads
like a who’s
who of professional artists, including world-renowned
children’s
author Remy Charlip; national award winning
composer and Richland One alumnus, Cedric Adderley;
Miss South Carolina 2004 Jessica Eddins; the
Columbia City Ballet; the Capital City Chorale;
and many more artists.
The Arts Festival is Richland One’s
gift to the community. It is presented free
of charge to the general public. For more information,
please contact the Richland One Office of Communications
