Heyward Technology Students To Receive Automotive Training Award

The Automotive Collision Repair Program at Heyward Career and Technology Center continues to push its students to excel. On Friday, May 4, at 1:00 p.m., 52 Heyward students will receive the prestigious Gold Points Award from the Inter-Industry Conference on Auto Collision Repair or (I-CAR). The recognition ceremony will be held in the school’s conference center, 3560 Lynhaven Drive. Representatives of major insurance companies, the automotive industry, and educational institutions will attend the ceremony.

I-CAR Gold Points are awarded to students who have been trained on the latest collision repair technology. Heyward is the only high school program in the Southeast to offer Gold Points to students in the automotive repair program. Students must go through rigorous training and achieve 80% or higher proficiency in order to receive this honor. School officials say these awards are important because when students graduate they will have credentials and training highly sought-after by colleges and the automotive industry. The University of Phoenix recently teamed with Heyward to accept I-CAR Gold Points through its online college management program.
