Richland One Staff and Students Excel in Teaching and Music
Richland One students and staff continue to explore new teaching methods and win awards for outstanding achievements. A few of their accomplishments are listed below.
Richland One Teachers Visit Russia
Eight Richland One teachers went on the trip of a lifetime during Spring Break. They spent a week in Russia learning about the schools and educational system in that country. The teacher exchange program was done in conjunction with the Deliberating in Democracy project, a national program that brings together high school students from different countries to debate hot political topics.

CA Johnson Band Students Excel
Band students at the C.A. Johnson Preparatory Academy won three awards in the Carolina Winter Ensemble Association (CWEA) championship competition which was held in Rock Hill on April 7. The school’s Percussion Ensemble took home a third-place award. Fellow musicians in the Indoor Winter Guard placed fifth. But there’s even more good news. CA Johnson also received the 2007 CWEA Sport of the Arts Award in recognition of the students’ passion and devotion to growth. This very high honor is only given to one school each year.
Congratulations to all of the students who participated in the CWEA championship: Shirlacia Richardson, Angelika Smith, Cierra Frierson, Brittany Benjamin, Raven Smith, Brian Gunter, Isaiah West, Cecelia McCoy, Travaris Payne, Derrick Smith, Johnnie Grant, Ta’shina McGraw and Jefferson McFadden.
