Richland One congratulates the following students for their outstanding achievements in local and regional competitions.

Carver-Lyon Elementary Wins Mayor’s Award
Carver-Lyon Elementary School recently was honored by Columbia Mayor Bob Coble for its donations to the Martin Luther King Food Drive. Carver-Lyon placed second. Students donated more than 1,000 pounds of food that will be used to help the needy in our community.

Carver-Lyon Elementary recently received a second-place award in the MLK Food Drive. From left to right, Carver-Lyon parent coordinator Ken Chandler, math coach Katie Nash and Principal Dr. Dorothy Gallman accepted the award on behalf of the school.

Richland One Middle College Wins Award
The Richland One Middle College has been selected to represent South Carolina as the winner of the Southern Growth Policies Boards’ 2007 Innovator Award. The Middle College was chosen from more than 100 nominees in the southern region as an outstanding initiative in workforce development. The award will be presented during the Southern Workforce Summit Conference June 3-5 in St. Louis, Missouri. The Middle College is housed on the campus of Midlands Technical College.
