RICHLAND ONE TO HONOR OUTSTANDING HIGH-SCHOOL SENIORS

"In Celebration of Excellence" is the theme for a special event tomorrow evening that will honor some of Richland One’s most outstanding students.

The 2007 Richland One Academic All-Stars Recognition Banquet will be held at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 17 at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center. Curtis Wilson, morning news anchor for WLTX 19, will serve as master of ceremonies.

During the banquet, Richland One will salute 157 seniors from the district’s seven high schools and the Richland One Middle College for their academic achievements. The program also will feature musical entertainment from the Lower Richland Diamond Orchestra and Miss Lower Richland High Brianna Nurse and an All-Stars video montage.

To qualify as Academic All-Stars, students must be ranked in the top 10 percent of their high school’s senior class and have at least a 3.5 grade-point average. They also must have no grade lower than a C for any subject completed for high-school credit. Students who meet the district’s High School Scholars criteria also qualify as Academic All-Stars. Selection is based upon the students’ academic standing as of the end of the first semester of the senior year.

The Partners In Education Foundation sponsors the annual Academic All-Stars Recognition Banquet. Partners In Education is a 501c(3) nonprofit organization that works to support and enhance the quality of education in Richland One and advance the district’s mission.
