15 Richland One Students Selected as National Merit and National Achievement Finalists
This year Richland One has 13 National Merit Scholarship finalists and two National Achievement Scholarship finalists. They will be formally recognized at the April 5 meeting of the Richland One Board of School Commissioners.
The National Merit Scholarship Program is an academic competition for recognition and college scholarships. Finalists are chosen based on high scores on the PSAT, academic achievement, teacher recommendations and other strict criteria. There are three types of awards: National Merit $2,500 scholarships that are single-payment awards; corporate-sponsored Merit/Achievement awards that may be renewable for up to four years of undergraduate study or one-time awards; and college-sponsored Merit Scholarship awards that are renewable for up to four years of undergraduate study. Students will be notified of scholarship decisions this spring.
